Crete is older than Greece. The Minoan civilization is a return to the past 4 thousand years ago. But this is both the past and the present, and in many respects — what was imagined and completed by Sir Arthur Evans and other archaeologists who discovered this ancient world for us. For modern people, ancient Crete is akin to the Martian civilization, poorly studied, because of this, it is not entirely understandable. The writing has not yet been fully deciphered and many secrets are hidden in the ground.

      Modern Crete follows other traditions — Christian and European, but at the same time retains its originality.

        And only ancient olives and fig trees remember both.
